"Memory"
Solo exhibition, UKS gallery, Oslo 1998
A long diagonal wall divides a dark room between the entry and the exit. A railing makes it only possible to move in a narrow strip between the two points, in front of the wall. Right beside the entry a strong Fresnel flood light is placed . As you enter the room, your body will block some of the light, and casting a shadow at the wall.

This shadow is not dark and empty, like usual, but filled with words that roll towards you. With more people present in the room, and as one walks across, shadows glide over each other and reveal more of the words as the shapes changes. The shadow image that reveal itself by your body, comes from a video projection behind the wall. The wall itself being a backlit screen. This phenomenon is a precise balancing of the two
light sources; the video projection and the flood light.

The text is single words, with references to the close,
fragmented landscape, the familiar, homely surroundings. The everyday treadmill. (A glass, a book, an undershirt, a frying pan, etc.)
The picture is full and empty in the same time - turned into single signs that quote our dayly life. The brief account of our own body in the shadow, will not be remembered as such, as it carries few posabilities of differanciatin and can not be filled with a specific content that overlive the moment as memory.
