Refuge/Ritual
The project is a study of the local environment, the remains of a protected forest. The symmetry in the work represents cultural intervention, which can hold both the known and the unknown. The symmetry can lead the viewer beyond the perception of nature as a romantic object. By flipping the image on its axis, the landscape receives an obvious focal point.

The centerline shows the artifice, the construction, and can act as an irritant. One can not fully enjoy the scenery as sublime grandeur, but might be able to look past it and into a wider context.

The man-made symmetry can resemble  delicate structures for temporary protection or traces of rituals. In Refuge, elements from the forest are used as a kind of building material. ref1.html
